Most projects fall under at least one of our programs of service; health, human rights/status of women, economic and social development, environment, education or international goodwill and understanding. The primary focus of the club is to become involved in projects that help to improve the lives of women and girls. Such projects include but are not limited to those listed below which are sponsored by the Soroptimist organization.and have also been adopted by our Region.

Making a Difference for Women Award

Around the world, many women are working to improve the lives of women and girls. Some women's work is through volunteer efforts while others do it through professional avenues. In either case, their work has significant impact and provides encouragement to women and girls. The Soroptimist Making a Difference for Women Award is designed to honor these women. Although not Soroptimists, their work helps promote the issues that are important to Soroptimists, while offering inspirational stories about how to make a difference in the lives of women.

Soroptimist STOP Trafficking

Soroptimist will launch a new awareness project addressing the sexual slavery of women and girls with a special event on Sunday December 2, 2007, the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery. In the United States, the program will launch on Friday, January 11, 2008, the first National Day of Human Trafficking Awareness. Clubs are invited to participate by distributing flyers on the launch days that focus on the message: Someone in this transportation center may be here against her will. The project will also provide clubs with cards to hand out in the community and public awareness tools to raise awareness through the media.
